A Home for Diverse Artistic Voices

Yossi Milo Gallery is renowned for its diverse roster of artists working across various media. While initially focused on photography, the gallery has expanded its scope to include painting, sculpture, video, and works on paper. This evolution reflects the gallery’s commitment to adapting to the ever-changing landscape of contemporary art.

The Chelsea Space

In 2012, Yossi Milo Gallery moved to its current location at 245 Tenth Avenue, between 24th and 25th Streets. This move to a larger, ground-floor space was a testament to the gallery’s growth and ambition. The new location, designed to match the gallery’s rigorous and evolving program, features multiple exhibition spaces spread across two floors. Each gallery is a carefully crafted white box with unique proportions and lighting, allowing for versatile and dynamic presentations of art.

Groundbreaking Exhibitions

Over the years, Yossi Milo Gallery has mounted numerous seminal exhibitions. One of the most notable was Kohei Yoshiyuki’s 2007 show “The Park,” which brought international attention to the artist and was hailed as “one of the season’s most sensational” by The New Yorker. The gallery has also been instrumental in introducing artists like Pieter Hugo to the international stage, solidifying its reputation for identifying and nurturing emerging talent.

Beyond the White Cube

Yossi Milo Gallery’s influence extends beyond its exhibition spaces. The gallery has co-published several acclaimed monographs and artist books, further contributing to the discourse surrounding contemporary art. These publications serve as lasting documents of the artists’ work and the gallery’s curatorial vision.

A Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

In recent years, Yossi Milo Gallery has reinforced its commitment to presenting a diverse range of artistic voices. The gallery has mounted exhibitions that explore important social and cultural themes, such as the multigenerational impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis. This dedication to addressing pressing issues through art underscores the gallery’s role as not just a commercial space, but as a platform for dialogue and reflection.

Looking to the Future

As Yossi Milo Gallery enters its third decade, it continues to evolve and push boundaries. The gallery’s program remains dynamic, with a mix of solo exhibitions by both emerging and established artists, as well as thoughtfully curated group shows. With its finger on the pulse of contemporary art, Yossi Milo Gallery is poised to continue its role as a tastemaker and innovator in the art world.
