The Artists

One of the most striking aspects of Lynn Hanson Gallery is its diverse roster of artists. The gallery represents over 40 talented individuals, each bringing their unique perspective and style to the space[3]. Some of the featured artists include:

  • Jacqui Beck
  • Nicole Brauch
  • Eliza Brown
  • Scott Burnett
  • Eric Day Chamberlain
  • Susan Christensen
  • Heather Cornelius
  • Marilyn Charlat Dix
  • Tracy Felix

And of course, Lynn Hanson herself, who is not only the gallery owner but also an accomplished artist specializing in acrylic, mixed media, and cold wax and oil techniques[7].

Exhibitions and Events

The gallery maintains a dynamic exhibition schedule, showcasing a wide range of artistic styles and mediums. Recent exhibitions have included thought-provoking themes such as:

  • “scene/unseen” (July 2024)
  • “detached and detaching” (June 2024)
  • “ICON” (April 2024)
  • “sense of place revisited” (March 2024)
  • “liminal beings” (February 2024)[6]

One of the gallery’s most anticipated annual events is the ICON Juried Show. This show, which has been running since 2012, invites artists to interpret the concept of “ICON” in their own unique way. The 7th annual ICON show in 2020 featured nearly 50 pieces selected from close to 150 submissions, showcasing works from painters, photographers, sculptors, and collagists[8].

Community Engagement

Lynn Hanson Gallery is more than just a space to view art; it’s a hub for artistic growth and community engagement. The gallery occasionally hosts workshops, allowing artists and art enthusiasts to learn new techniques and explore different mediums. For instance, in April 2017, the gallery hosted a workshop by Pamela Beer, focusing on acrylic painting techniques[8].

The Gallery Owner

Lynn Hanson, the gallery’s namesake and owner, is an integral part of the Seattle art scene. Along with her husband, Robert Gutcheck, Lynn has created a space that nurtures creativity and fosters a sense of community among artists and art lovers[2]. As an artist herself, Lynn brings a unique perspective to curating the gallery’s exhibitions and selecting the artists to represent.

Lynn Hanson Gallery stands out as a beacon of creativity in Seattle’s vibrant art scene. With its diverse array of artists, engaging exhibitions, and commitment to community involvement, the gallery offers something for everyone.
