Pioneering Modern and Contemporary Art

From the outset, the Keitelman Gallery has distinguished itself by showcasing the most influential figures of modern American art, including Alexander Calder, Barbara Kruger, Roy Lichtenstein, and Robert Rauschenberg.[1][2][4] It was also one of the first Belgian galleries to exhibit groundbreaking graffiti artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring.[4]

In 1993, the gallery was invited to participate in the prestigious TEFAF Maastricht art fair, and has continued to be a regular exhibitor there ever since.[4] This prestigious association has further cemented the Keitelman Gallery’s reputation as a leading contemporary art institution.

Expanding the Collection and Collaborations

Over the years, the gallery has expanded its focus to include important 20th century artists such as Jean Arp, Salvador Dalí, Yves Klein, and Pablo Picasso.[4] Its clientele includes renowned museums like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, and the Art Institute of Chicago.[4]

In 2009, Avi and Valérie Keitelman took over the gallery and inaugurated a new space on Rue Van Eyck in Brussels. Since then, the gallery has re-established its exhibition programming, proposing an ambitious program of encounters between modern and contemporary artists.[4] It now collaborates actively with international artists such as Claude Cortinovis, Mounir Fatmi, and Gal Weinstein.[4]

The Keitelman Gallery also regularly collaborates with international institutions, lending works for prestigious exhibitions, including retrospectives on René Magritte and Lisette Model.[4]

A Commitment to Excellence

At the heart of the Keitelman Gallery’s mission is a deep commitment to excellence, both in the artistic priorities and financial requirements of private collectors and museums.[2][4] The gallery’s curatorial approach is rooted in a profound knowledge of art history, combined with a stimulating eclecticism that continues to captivate and inspire art enthusiasts from around the world.[4]

As a leading contemporary art institution in Brussels, the Keitelman Gallery remains a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the dynamic and ever-evolving world of modern and contemporary art.
