ContactHistory and Evolution
Originally located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Black & White Gallery quickly gained recognition as a breeding ground for emerging talent. Between 2006 and 2010, it expanded to include a second location in Chelsea, but the Chelsea site was eventually closed. In 2010, the gallery transitioned into a dual operation with the establishment of the Black & White Project Space, a not-for-profit exhibition space aimed at allowing artists the freedom to experiment without the constraints of commercial pressures. This initiative encourages innovative project-based exhibitions and site-specific installations, fostering a dynamic artistic community.
From 2015 to 2018, the gallery operated from a new brick-and-mortar location in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Since the summer of 2020, Black & White Gallery has embraced a hybrid model, experimenting with both digital and physical exhibition formats. This adaptability has allowed them to continue promoting cutting-edge creative ideas through online presentations, pop-up exhibitions, and participation in art fairs.
