A Legacy of Excellence

Founded in 1989 by Antonio J. Ascaso R. in Valencia, Venezuela, Ascaso Gallery has grown from its South American roots to become a global art destination. The gallery’s journey is marked by significant milestones, including the inauguration of a 21,500 square foot, four-story building in Caracas, Venezuela in 2002, expansion to Miami’s Wynwood Arts District in 2010, and relocation to a spacious 11,500 square foot gallery in Downtown Miami in 2019.

A Diverse Artistic Portfolio

Ascaso Gallery’s strength lies in its impressive roster of artists, which includes some of the most influential names in Latin American and contemporary art. The gallery represents Venezuelan masters such as Jesús Rafael Soto and Carlos Cruz Diez, international icons like Fernando Botero and Julio Larraz, and contemporary stars including Jeff Koons and Vik Muñiz.

Exhibitions and Events

The gallery is known for its dynamic exhibition program, which includes solo shows, thematic group exhibitions, and retrospectives celebrating the careers of established artists. Ascaso Gallery also actively participates in major art fairs like Art Miami and Art Basel Miami Beach, further cementing its position in the international art scene.

Ascaso Gallery’s influence extends beyond its physical spaces. The gallery actively participates in international art fairs, collaborates with museums, and engages in cultural exchanges. This global approach has helped to promote Latin American art on the world stage and introduce international contemporary artists to new audiences.

A New Chapter in Downtown Miami

The gallery’s move to Downtown Miami in 2019 marked a new era for Ascaso. Located near the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts and just blocks from the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), the new space allows for even more ambitious exhibitions and projects.

Innovative Exhibitions

Ascaso Gallery continues to push boundaries with its exhibitions. A recent show titled “Cute Tunes for Serious Sapiens” featured works by four artists exploring their ‘inner child’. This exhibition, curated by Barbara Pollack, showcased pieces that transcended traditional artistic boundaries, blending pop culture influences with classical art references.

Commitment to Artistic Freedom

One of Ascaso Gallery’s strengths is its commitment to artistic freedom and innovation. The gallery provides a platform for artists to express their unique visions, whether through traditional mediums or cutting-edge techniques. This approach has allowed Ascaso to remain at the forefront of contemporary art trends while maintaining a strong connection to its Latin American roots.

Educational Initiatives

Beyond showcasing art, Ascaso Gallery is committed to educating the public about contemporary art. The gallery regularly hosts talks, workshops, and guided tours, providing visitors with deeper insights into the artists and movements represented in its collection.

Conclusion

Ascaso Gallery has come a long way from its Venezuelan origins to become a major force in the global art market. Its commitment to showcasing high-quality Latin American and contemporary art, coupled with its expansive vision and strategic location in Miami, positions it as a must-visit destination for art lovers, collectors, and curious visitors alike. Whether you’re a seasoned art enthusiast or new to the world of contemporary art, Ascaso Gallery offers a rich and diverse experience that reflects the vibrant, ever-evolving landscape of modern artistic expression.
